In Inter-America, the Seventh-day Adventist Church has been offering accredited Master’s degrees in Pastoral Studies since 1974 (as indicated in the Historical Background section). The Master of Arts in Religion was offered by the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary (SDATS) until 2004 (accredited by Adventist Accrediting Association, Association of Theological Schools, and North Central Association). In 1997, the Accreditation Commission of ATS (COA) visited the extension campuses of the SDATS in Inter-America and approved the Master in Religion Program in Jamaica, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The AAA’s last accreditation to IATS was granted in 2013 for a period of four years. In 2011, IATS obtained full accreditation with all its rights and privileges from the ATS for seven years. The license was obtained from the Puerto Rican Council of Higher Education (CES in Spanish, Consejo de Educación Superior) for the operation of IATS in Puerto Rico.
